Today we’re going to talk about the influence of zinc over cortisol. Zinc is a trace mineral that has a huge influence over the HPA axis. The HPA axis is basically a feedback loop going through the hypothalamus, pituitary, and adrenal glands. Zinc supports this whole pathway. When you take zinc, it could actually help lower cortisol. Zinc also increases GABA, which is very calming.
When you’re low in zinc, you’re going to be a little bit higher in copper because they work together. But, lower zinc and higher copper is not good.
